Dave Coniglio is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston and moved to Portland in 2006. He began teaching at Revival Drum Shop and started at School of Rock Portland in 2009, where he teaches individual lessons and leads show ensembles. Dave served as the music director of the Portland School of Rock from 2014 to 2024. He has been a gigging musician since he was 16 years old, and in that time has accrued studio and recording experience, knows how to run sound, and can set up an entire stage solo. He has worked in t.v., written film scores, performed live to silent movies, and can sing and play drums at the same time. Currently, he plays in the local jazz-funk band Professional Midnight and is an active session musician for hire. Former bands include 1939 Ensemble, PigWar, Humours, and more.
Dave’s playing is rooted in a Meters cassette tape given to him in eighth grade. Some other artists that inspire and influence him include The Melvins, Miles Davis, Can, Steve Gadd, and Fiona Apple. Besides music, he enjoys spending time with his family, going to the coast, and listening to baseball.
